Methods to Create a Bootable USB Flash Drive [Installation Guide]

Before installation, you need to convert the ISO image into an executable file. Here, I am using three quick and easy methods. You can follow any of them.

Method #1: Use “Windows USB/DVD Download” Tool

In the first method, I am using Microsoft’s official tool “Windows USB/DVD Download.” You can get it from the official site of Microsoft.

  1. Download it from here.
  2. Connect an 8GB USB flash drive with a PC.
  3. Now, download Windows 7 Enterprise ISO from the link in the above section.
  4. Here, right-click to the tool and select “Run” to proceed.
  5. When it opens, you see the “Source File box.” Add the path of ISO file here. You can also use “Browse” to locate ISO automatically.
  6. Select the option “USB Device” to create a copy of the ISO file on the USB drive.
  7. Now, click the option “Begin Copying” to copy the ISO image to the USB flash drive.
  8. Open the relevant folder and double-click the “setup.exe” file. Double-click this file to start the installation process.

Method # 2: Use RUFUS

Another quick option to create a bootable USB flash drive is to use RUFUS. It’s a third-party tool that is safe and easy to use. You don’t need to do anything complicated. Just download it and follow a few clicks and that’s it.

  1. Go to the “Start” menu and select Command Prompt.
  2. Right-click to it and select “Run as an Administrator” option.
  3. When it is open, type the following commands and press the “Enter” key after every command.

  7. CLEAN
  8. CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SIZE=102400 (You can select your desired drive size)
